The World Leader in Self Defense

New York -Accomplished martial artist (5 black belts) and U.S. Army Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Officer, Captain Chris' world was shattered in 1997 when his dream of career military service was ended when diagnosed with atypical seminoma cancer.

After three long years consisting of major surgeries, stem cell replacement chemotherapy, radiation, infections, and several deceased hospital roommates, Chris found himself severely overweight, friendless, jobless, penniless, and clinically depressed.

Struggling to pick up the pieces of his broken life, giving up became a very real option for Chris and thoughts of suicide began creeping into his daily thoughts.

Finding some solace and life meaning in the New Jersey public school system, Chris quickly became the favorite teacher and coach of both students and the administration alike. With his friendly personality, military work ethic, and a true passion for helping others, it was quite clear that Chris not only possessed the tools needed to impart knowledge, but also the "gift" to do so.

Using his meager teacher's salary to resume his martial arts training, Chris applied the accelerated learning tools and tactics he had developed both in the military and education system to successfully compete once again in the martial arts with stunning results (Gold Medal US Grappling Champion, Silver Medal Grappler's Quest National Champion, and a remarkable 147 trophies and medals in Karate, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and Boxing).

Today Captain Chris will be the first to admit that he is embarrassed how he thought of himself as a true "tough guy" at the time, and even considered getting involved in the hot new martial arts craze back then: Ultimate Fighting and Mixed Martial Arts. That was until Chris got into what he calls "The first real fight of my entire life".

Sure, Chris had been in plenty of nasty situations before. Any kid growing up in Northern NJ winds up in a few playground scuffles, in the military Chris wasn't exactly a pencil pushing desk jockey, and his moonlighting as a nightclub bouncer on the weekends could get pretty rough at times. Never mind the fact that Chris had already gone up against, and trained with the best martial arts and grappling athletes on the mat...but this "fight" was very, VERY different.

Because this was the first time that Chris was not only scared for his own life, but also for someone that he loved. And it opened his eyes to the very real limitations of martial arts and self defense.

On the way home from a fancy dinner in NYC with his former commanding officer, Chris and his girlfriend (now his wife) Heather were almost driven off the road by someone in pickup truck.

As Chris managed to swerve back onto the road, the other driver tailed him to the next traffic light. He then got out of his truck and quickly made his way towards Chris' window.

Not wanting to have some "road rage jerk" damage his car, Chris stepped out of his car and the other man immediately attacked him.

Grabbed by the necktie, Chris immediately put those honed martial arts skills to use, locked on a wristlock to bring the man to his knees, and then put him into a choke.

Chris felt his ego rocket into the stratosphere as one of the onlookers even verbally gasped "Wow" at his seemingly amazing skill. That was until he heard Heather scream.

It turned out that the now-gurgling road rager that Chris was so busy trying to "tap out" in the middle of the street also had a girlfriend in the passenger seat. But his girlfriend was a big, 200 lb. biker-chick with a big, sharp hunting knife and a heck of a lot of aggression.

After the truck driver had attacked Chris, his girlfriend went after Heather and repeatedly tried to stab her through the car window with the hunting knife. Unsuccessful, she quickly turned the knife on Chris when she saw her man going down.

When Chris let the choke loose in order to defend himself against the oncoming blade, he was immediately tackled to the asphalt by the man he was just humiliating.

Flat on his stomach...With a raging opponent that outweighed him by a good 40 pounds now sitting on his back...AND his hunting knife armed, stab-happy monster of a lady friend kicking him in the ribs with her work boots looking for someplace to bury that blade...A happy ending was not in Chris' future.

It was at that exact moment that Chris realized that all of his black belts, his military service, all his martial arts trophies, and ESPECIALLY that Gold Medal that he was so proud of...Didn't mean squat. Because he was going to die.

While he did survive the incident thanks to the unglamorous and un-Hollywood ending consisting of a police cruiser arriving at that very moment, Chris' life was forever altered.

So traumatized was he at how close he came to being killed by this duo, Chris spent every hard-earned dollar he had searching the world for the "real" answer to martial arts and self defense.

Over a decade later...Chris has dedicated his life to not only spreading the "truth" about martial arts and self defense, but also to teaching the very same simplistic, and easy to learn answer he discovered in his quest...The answer called Close Combat.

Loved by the tens-of-thousands of soldiers, police officers, bounty hunters, bouncers, doctors, lawyers, investment bankers, real estate agents, college students, senior citizens, and "normal" Moms & Dads he has trained, Captain Chris has become an icon and leader in the self defense industry as he insists on delivering only the most practical and useful information to his worldwide network of students, instructors, and clientele.

Captain Chris has of late raised the bar by offering an unheard of in the industry, no-strings-attached free "test-drive" of his award winning Close Combat Training system (Much to the chagrin of his competitors and the fluffed up martial arts "masters" he consistently discredits!). When asked why he is willing to take such financial risk by offering this trial, he simply replied, "This is just something everybody needs to see in order to properly protect themselves and their family".

And it makes sense Captain Chris would find protecting your family so important...

Because for someone who lives in the public eye as the world leader in self defense, Captain Chris is a notorious homebody. In between his rigorous training and teaching schedule, he enjoys spending time with his wife and wrestling around with their three little boys.
