I find it interesting how many people are opposed to violence. Now, don’t get me wrong; I certainly don’t walk into a new place and punch the first person who looks at me! However, as stated in an earlier post, only 2 percent of the population will actually use force to protect themselves from violence because they are so opposed to it!
I said there were plenty more weapons, and here they are! In all my years of studying and teaching military self defense, I have never underestimated the value of tools. And tools are whatever you can find. Tools can be your fists or feet; it can be the martial arts training that you have received, or the training you have taken in military self defense.

Yesterday I talked about how tools like pepper spray go hand in hand with martial arts self defense. But I don’t want to hit that so hard that you make one of the common mistakes that could be made.
To learn martial arts is not a bad thing. Of course you first need to determine your reasons for seeking training. Do you really want martial arts self-defense techniques; do you want to learn how to get out of a ground fight? Do you want to simply learn martial arts as a sport; a way to stay fit and strong?
Self-defense is just as it sounds: it is when you defend yourself or your property. The hopes are that you will never find yourself in a situation where you or a loved one is in a life or death encounter. But the reality is that bad crimes do happen; so the best thing you can do is take full advantage of your right to protect yourself. With a self-defense video and a little bit of time every day, you can exercise your right and gain the knowledge necessary to help yourself if ever you need to.
