True Self Defense Goes Beyond the Body

Self Defense SituationIf you or a loved one were approached by a bad guy who wanted to hurt you, how would you respond?  Would you try to run away?  Would you have the slightest clue how to defend yourself?

The fact of the matter is that most people, even those trained in some sort of martial art, are not prepared to actually use the “self-defense training” they have received.  Here’s one reason why:  martial arts does not equal self defense training (also sometime called self defence training).  Martial arts like karate or taekwondo consist of a variety of kicks and strikes.  While these practices are great for staying in shape and creating a focused energy source, they do not help you much if you are facing a life or death situation.

You might think that knowing how to kick a perpetrator is good self-defense training.  But something physiological happens to a body when in a stressful situation.  Fear induced stress creates the situation in the body where the fine motor skills are weakened.  This means that you loose some ability to control your small muscle groups.

To really defend yourself, you’ve got to have an understanding of what occurs in the body and mind during stress brought on by fear.  The Close Combat self-defense training dvd teaches you how to approach situations that are completely stressful and make you want to run in the other direction.  This does not mean that you should invite danger by not trying to diffuse a potentially dangerous situation; but sometimes there is no other way out than to fight.

You may think that the best way to defend yourself is by carrying a weapon such as a gun or pepper spray.  While these things are good; again you are dealing with the fact that your body is affected by stress.  If you are in a situation where you might have to use one of those weapons, it is highly possible that you will be under a great amount of stress.  Under those conditions, even trained sharp-shooters have missed their mark.  So it is very important to receive the correct self-defense training in order to be fully prepared to encounter danger on the street or in your home.  Click Here to see our dvd

The reality is that we can encounter danger just about anywhere.  Not to say that our world is a horrible place; but it’s better to be realistic about the dangers that are present than to pretend they do not exist.  When you acknowledge that there are certain dangers, you will be more alert to your surroundings.  You probably do this to a small extent already.  You probably put your money in your wallet or pocket before walking away from the ATM or bank teller.  You lock your car when you leave it in a parking lot.  Some people even go so far as to park under a street light if out after dark.

Self-defense training doesn’t start when you are on the ground or facing an attacker; it starts far before that, when you acknowledge the risk of danger is present.  Self-defense training does not consist only of learning how to throw an effective punch or how to bring your attacker to the ground in one swift move (although that’s the fun part!).

Fearful SituationTrue self-defense training is not cookie cutter nice guy kind of moves.  The truth of the matter is that violence is not pretty.  You can therefore not rely upon programs that are pretty or politically correct.  If you want to really know you can protect yourself if the time ever came, you’ve got to face the truth head on and be prepared to get down and dirty.  Sometimes you counteract violence with harsh, violent moves to disarm your attacker.  But when you walk away with your life and the other guy walks away in cuffs, what you had to do was worth it.  See how you can learn with our dvd.

Nobody wants to be a victim.  Certainly you do not want to invite danger in.  You would not bring any stranger into you home or vehicle.  And yet every time you walk down the street or ride the train or stand in line without your full attention on your surroundings that is precisely what you are doing.  Danger does not live only on dark, empty streets.  Bad things happen right in the middle of the day, sometimes in the parking lots of your local store or even in the halls of a school or workplace.

Becoming a victim is a risk you run by doing nothing.  To increase your personal safety, the first thing you must do is drop the electronics and always, always know what is happening around you.  However, this is only the first step.  You must also know what to look for.  Bad guys don’t always look like bad guys.  They look like me and you until they’ve got you on the ground or are up in your face.  Learn how to protect yourself on our Home Page.

It cannot be overstated that knowing a few strikes and kicks does not amount to true self-defense training.  When you get into a dangerous situation and your heart starts pumping wildly, it is common to lose concentration to such an extent as to forget all the fine motor skills techniques you’ve learned.  Sticking with the right muscle groups is one way to stack the odds in your favor.  Knowing what to expect from your body stacks those odds even higher because then you will not be surprised.  When you know what to expect of yourself, you can gain the upper hand in bad situations every time.  Get the right information here.
