Compare Martial Arts

Since there is more than one style of martial arts being practiced people argue about which style is the best. Well, if you didn’t know by now it is all relative. When you compare martial arts you have to realize that they all have different goals in mind. Some styles are just fine as sports because that is all they were ever meant to be, and that is all they should ever be used for. Other styles are great for burning off the fat, and are completely useless when it comes to self defense – and that’s okay because in the world of martial arts there is room for everybody. In fact people who practice different styles should talk and exchange ideas. The only real problem is when people try to say their style can do things that it can’t, like self defense.

You can compare martial arts all you want, but it is like asking a group of people what the best pizza topping is. You will be lucky if you get two people to agree on the same topping and everyone thinks their choice is the best for various reasons. The same thing goes for martial arts, but if you want to survive in the streets you will need to be more open to different styles. A real mixed martial artist studies different styles because they want to know more moves, and they don’t want to limit themselves. There is something you can learn from almost every style of martial arts, so don’t reject an idea just because it comes from someone who practices another style.

When you compare martial arts it’s up to you to decide what makes one style better than another, because you’re the one who knows what you want to get out of the training experience. If you want to learn a martial art because you want to learn a sport there are a lot of great choices out there for you to pick from. If you want to learn self defense, there are a lot fewer choices, but if you want to be ready for a real fight you will find the training out there. Make your choice based on what you want and don’t let anyone tell you that it is a bad choice if you’re having fun and getting what you want out of it.
