Buy Martial Arts
You can’t buy martial arts. You can buy gear, you can buy uniforms, and you can even buy weapons, but you can’t buy the experience because you live it. You can’t put a price on knowing what to do when someone tries to mug you or pushes a gun in your face. You don’t think dollars and cents when you’re able to hold off attackers in your home until the police arrive. You can’t put a price on the feeling you get when the referee raises your hand and your opponent looks at the ground. You don’t feel the pain, and you don’t feel the blood dripping down your skin, because you paid in full before you ever got to the ring. Training in the martial arts is an experience and you may pay for an instructor’s time or a piece of equipment, but you don’t buy martial arts.
You can buy a black belt and with a little work you can start running a martial arts school, but you aren’t a real martial arts instructor. You haven’t studied for years, and fought many opponents. You haven’t studied articles and books on the subject, and you haven’t learned anything from street fights and tournaments. You might have bought a belt and the costume – but you didn’t buy martial arts. Those of you out there who are pretenders know who you are and you lie to yourself and your students every day. You’re the worst in martial arts and you thought spending money would make up for everything you lack.
You just can’t spend money and think you will get the full experience. You might spend money on paint ball, a survival coarse, and you might even jump out of a plane, but you didn’t buy the experience of a veteran. It’s like a lot of things, you only get a brief sample, because you’re busy doing other things with your life while others dedicate their lives to something else. Maybe you were busy doing other things and didn’t have time to study Karate, Judo, or Tae Kwon Do because you had to work or had other obligations. If you want self defense training though you can learn it quickly and easily, but you can’t just buy martial arts. The experience is paid for by a lot of hard work and dedication which can’t be bought by money alone.
