Defend Yourself Like A Pro
When you think of self defense, what pops into mind first? Are visions of Bruce Lee flying through your head? Chances are you had some sort of idea that self defense may include a round-house kick landed on your attackers jaw as you spin around and land effortlessly on the ground, ready to take on the world. Ok, maybe not to that extent; but the point is that many people equate self defense with martial arts.
Really, if you want to be able to fight like a pro in order to defend yourself adequately, you want to investigate military self defense. See, practices like Karate or Judo have a place; there’s no doubt about that. The martial arts were developed centuries ago and passed down through the ages. The ancient Samurai had fighting techniques that were ultra effective and powerful. However, over the years of passing through the hands of new teachers and into new countries, the effectiveness of the martial arts as a fighting technique has been watered down significantly.
This is not to say you should cancel your membership at your local dojo. No, in fact the martial arts are very good for helping an individual to learn to focus their energy and how to use self control. Even in military self defense, you need a good dose of focus and self control. Any self defense tactics that you use to fight off an attacker will require a mental focus that is helped along with training in the martial arts.
That being said, when you are looking for ways to really be able to protect yourself on the street or in your home, you have to know you are up against street fighting, not ninja warriors. Sometimes an attacker will be armed; and sometimes they will not. Sometimes there may be more than one assailant, and sometimes the attacker will act alone. These are all things that you need to be aware of, and military self defense is how you learn what to look for.
Attackers do not typically jump out from behind a bush and straight into your path. That means that the first of the self defense tactics you should learn is to become more aware of your surroundings. Just by knowing your surroundings, you have created a safer environment for yourself, and have begun to act like a pro. If you’ve ever spent time with a Special Forces guy out in public, you may notice that he never sits with his back to the door. Why? Military self defense at its most basic! Crime statistics all throughout the world continue to ebb and flow. Because of such cases, people get a false sense of security and also, predators are on the loose when they shouldn’t be. The best protection available is found within each individual. What you can learn in terms of self-defense tactics is the one true way to ensure you remain safe no matter what type of encounter you may experience, if any. Click Here for our self-defense dvd.
