Combat Self-Defense – Your Personal Crime Stopper
When you think of hand to hand combat training, your imagination may wander to men in military uniforms fighting it out in some far away country. You may also envision two men, four hands; nothing else. Rightfully so, as hand to hand combat is a term that has often referred to weaponless fighting, typically military based.
Hand to hand combat training has been around since ancient times. In times of old, there were no guns with which to end a conflict as quickly as can be done now. Hands were what men had to fight with and therefore they did. The ancient Gladiators engaged in hand to hand combat training. More recently, military organizations in all countries of the world worked to develop their own hand to hand combat training. The forms have incorporated moves and techniques from different martial arts forms such as Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai as well as other methods. The results of military training have been that we have created men who can fight off an attacker who is armed or disarmed; basically highly trained elite fighters.
The techniques of combat self defense are as varied as the roots that sprouted the practice itself. These techniques can include hits, kicks, and punches, throws, locks and grappling moves to name a few. Hand to hand combat training that covers all of these techniques and more will be highly effective not only for the elite military but also for the college student or the suburban housewife who wants to know she can protect herself if ever necessary. Hand to hand combat training can teach combat self defense to any person who has a little guts. You don’t have to have extraordinary strength to be trained in the techniques; you just have to want to know how to effectively protect yourself. The universal tactics learned in hand to hand combat training are not only effective in war; but also in your average street fight or act of violent crime. In fact, they may even be more so in such instances because the average bad guy has not studied combat self-defense himself. He just thinks he is bigger and stronger than you. So when you whip out one or two effective stikes to the right body parts, you will disarm him and enable yourself to run for help.
When talking about combat self defense, you should not assume that this sort of training turns you into an elite fighter with a free pass for violence. The number one rule regarding most hand to hand combat tactics is maintaining self awareness and a cool head. When you are faced with a dangerous situation, you will experience a natural adrenaline rush. This is your body’s fight or flight response to fear induced stress. Experts call this an adrenaline dump.
This very powerful physical response to stress has a good place in some fights, but in situations where the average person is just plain scared out of their wits, this adrenaline can send them into a panic filled with clouded judgment that will lead to self-defense mistakes. This is what makes combat self-defense training so spectacular; the average person will learn what the body does under such severe stress and how to deal with it properly. This is a vital part of training; above and beyond any actual technique you will learn in hand to hand combat training. Combat self-defense information can be found on our Home Page. The instances in today’s society where hand to hand combat training can come be an enormous asset are many. The sad fact of the matter is that although the average person is not in a military wartime situation, there is violence that occurs on city streets or rural roads. Because of the instances of violent crime, the average person must learn ways to sense danger and ways to get away from it when it stares them in the face. Doing anything less than learning to protect yourself effectively is to put yourself at risk of victimization.
There are ample places to choose from if you look up self-defense online or in your local paper. You probably drive by several “self-defense” studios on your way to work or school. Such studios are found in just about every town across the U.S. But..and this is a big but..any school that teaches self-defense has not been created equal. Martial arts studios have something to teach you or your kids, sure. But if what you are really after is reality based information that will help you send a bad guy to the ground, what you need is true combat self-defense.
The problem with finding a self-defense course like this is that combat self-defense is brutal. Look, that’s just the way it is. Violence is violent; there’s no other way to put it. So you cannot therefore fight violent behavior directed at you with a few swings of your arm or leg and expect to walk away. When you are facing a violent crime, your body and mind need to know what to do and how to send your assailant packing. Martial arts moves may not be effective in eliminating a threat effectively. See how to quickly eliminate an assailant here.
Both martial arts training and hand to hand combat training are good at showing you how to hone your instincts. If you cannot sense danger, there’s problem number one. Elite military personnel are trained to sense danger so much so that they can do it in their sleep long after their war has ended. Obviously violence should always be avoided; there are laws in place that dictate how you can use self-defense, after all. But in those times when you cannot avoid it, you’ve got to know what to do with yourself.
Self-defense is a broad term. Combat self-defense is a highly effective skill that doesn’t involve complex moves that you will struggle to remember. Although any fighter must practice to ingrain techniques and moves, there are some moves that your mind and body will learn faster than others. For that reason, hand to hand combat training is made to be simple yet effective.
