Muay Thai DVD

Well, it’s time again to buy something for the martial artist or martial arts fan in your life, and you know they have mentioned they like the Thai sport of kickboxing. They aren’t alone, the combat sport is popular around the world and in its native Thailand just as popular as baseball is in the United States. You probably think a Muay Thai DVD is a good idea for a gift, but learn a little more first before you buy anything.

Muay Thai has been used by fighters in mixed martial arts fights, because it allows them to hit hard and fast in a fight. The sport is a lot like traditional boxing where fighters hit each other with gloved fists. The major difference is that fighters can kick and elbow an opponent during a match.

It is lighting fast – the sport only last a few quick brutal rounds and blood is often spilled during a fight. Unlike other martial arts matches there are rules to stop fighters from wrestling, but in traditional matches the only way to win is by knockout. There are other styles of kickboxing out there, but they have their own rules regarding what a fighter can do.

You should know the sport is pretty violent, and if you’re buying the Muay Thai DVD for a young fan you might want to sit down and watch it first, or better yet watch some clips before you buy it. If you won’t let them watch professional wrestling or boxing you probably don’t want to let them watch any matches. There are teaching DVDs, and if you want your young fighter to get a head start they can be a great learning experience – but know like any other sport they can still get hurt. The right DVD is out there for the fan or future fighter in your life.

Like any other purchase, look for reviews and talk to people who know what they’re talking about before you buy anything. If you really don’t have a clue ask the person who you’re buying the gift for where they shop and buy a gift card. If you like a sport with a lot of action you might even want to sit down and watch it with them. It’s intense and you might even learn a few things – but remember it is a combat sport and doesn’t replace self defense training.
