Muay Thai Clips

Well, if you have watched Ultimate Fighting Championship (or UFC as it is better known) or been around someone who can’t talk about anything else you’ve probably heard of the combat sport Muay Thai. And despite hearing a detailed description from someone at the bar or your spouse, you still have no idea what they’re talking about. In mixed martial arts competitions there are all kinds of styles being used in a fight and the announcers are no help. So you go online to see what the hell someone is talking about, and search for Muay Thai clips to get some information – but you still don’t get it. You need a quick lesson in martial arts.

Now if you simply type Muay Thai into your favorite search engine of choice whether it’s Google or one of the many other search engines it doesn’t really matter, but you will get over 6 million hits. There is plenty of good information out there, but if you’re pressed for time keep reading, and you will get the short version of what Muay Thai is. It’s the national sport of Thailand that has been around for a long time and has its own rituals. It’s a lot like western style boxing, but fighters are allowed to kick and hit with elbows also. It is a pretty brutal combat sport and is all about strike or punching and kicking – it’s not martial arts. Street fighting moves aren’t allowed though and neither is wrestling, so the training is only the first step in learning self defense.

Now you’re probably wondering what does this all have to do with mixed martial arts competitions. Well, in mixed martial arts matches you can wrestle with your opponent and take them to the ground, or you can strike them with your gloved hand. Basically the sport is all about wrestling and hitting until you make the other person give up. Fighters look for whatever techniques will help them the most and Muay Thai has plenty of those. So watch a few Muay Thai clips to see what people are talking about. You will probably see pictures of what looks like a boxing match, but the fighters won’t just be using their fists to win. When it comes down to it is all about knowing how to punch hard and fast.
