Mixed Martial Arts Shorts

It seems like there is a specialty item out there for every sport imaginable, and you can’t use an item from one sport in another. Sure a Judo gi is almost exactly the same as a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gi if not identical, but manufactures couldn’t have you wear the same thing over and over. There are tons of stuff out there for fighters, and it isn’t easy affording everything you need so stick to the basics and don’t worry about looking good. You can still train for the Ultimate Fighting Championships even if you don’t have the “right” clothes, because it really is all about what you put into the training – not whether you’re wearing mixed martial arts shorts or not. Also keep in mind in a real fight you don’t get to change what you’re wearing because it can happen at any time at any place.

In case you were wondering, mixed martial arts shorts are what you see the guys and girls wear in most matches. They’re made to be lightweight, soft, durable, and look cool while you’re fighting. You won’t look cool though if you lose and have you ever heard someone say they lost because they didn’t wear the right shorts – probably not. They might help you out slightly, but training is the real advantage. If a fighter is more concerned about how they look then how they need to fight, they have a serious problem on their hands.

If you want mixed martial arts shorts buy them because you want them, not because you need them, and get used to the idea of fighting anywhere for self defense. In the real world fights don’t happen in a nice clean, brightly lit martial arts training schools. They happen where you would least expect them to happen. People are attacked during their trip home from work, walking in the park, and other places where they have been hundreds of times without even the hint of trouble.

If you really want to be ready for a fight don’t just practice in the ring. Wear street clothes and practice in real world locations. Fights happen in bars and restaurants and even bookstores so get used to fighting in tight spots, and learn what really works in close combat. Not everything you learn for a match will work in real life so train and be ready before you find out the hard way.
