Integrity Martial Arts
If you’re searching for integrity martial arts on your computer chances are you’re looking for a martial arts studio with that name. Well, this article isn’t about them, but it is about the martial arts industry in general. It seems integrity – which means to hold moral and ethical – isn’t something many martial arts instructors have concerned themselves with when it comes to their teaching and business practices. Just because someone tells you they’re a black belt, and they can teach you how to fight, doesn’t mean they’re telling you the truth. The fact is most instructors are mistaken when they say they teach self defense. They’re actually teaching combat sport which isn’t a bad thing, but combat sports look like combat martial arts, but they’re self defense.
You need integrity in any business model no matter what good or service your providing to the community. If you deal with people honestly they will come back to you and spread the news that you’re a good person to do business with. Many people don’t know anything about martial arts though and will gladly enjoy any martial arts school just because they have a cool logo or are teaching the current trends. Don’t fall into that trap, you are smarter then that so when you’re thinking about starting a training program find out the facts. Talk to other students and do some research about the school and the style of martial arts you are thinking about studying. Don’t take it for granted that everyone is honest and is looking to give you a fair deal. Crunch the numbers and don’t just join a school because you’re caught up in the moment.
Integrity martial arts aren’t just a place to train – it should also be a way of thinking. Don’t let future generations get lousy training at a high price. It’s time to bring back integrity to the martial arts industry and get back to its traditional roots. If you’re an instructor hold to your values and don’t sell out. If people want real training, they will come find you, and if you’re a student don’t lie to yourself about your training. Can you really win a fight with what you know? Those of us who study martial arts let things become a joke because we let people with screwed up priorities rise to the top.
