Martial Arts Videos
You should do your research into a style before you go hunting for martial arts videos. Any description on a website or the back of a package can make the most useless style sound good so your research needs to be objective. Learn about a system first then make your decision and investment.
Take Jiu Jitsu for example. A little research will tell you that the style has been around for hundreds of years and practiced by some of the toughest warriors. The style builds strength and is good for self-defense and is even more useful when combined with Judo. It was also used by Special Forces troops and secret agents in World War II, making Jujutsu a time tested combat proven style. Seems like a good choice for self defense. Once that step is completed it’s a matter of finding the right videos to begin your training with some help from an online site.
First, don’t pick a video because it has the prettiest box. Giveaways are fine but don’t let a new knife or mug make the decision for you when selecting a video. You have to look at the reputation of the person selling the video. Are they selling you a style that is actually used by the military or police as they claim? Does the company have a good reputation in the industry with good reviews to support their claims? Is the quality worth the price you will pay for the training video? What is the company’s return policy and how do they handle damaged videos?
The more of these questions you can answer positively the more pleased will be with the company you choose. There are a lot of martial artists who have compromised their integrity and core values in the pursuit of the all mighty dollar. Some will just lie about what their system does while others will only show shots of them training and not teach you anything. That does not mean there are not legitimate people trying to educate the public and sell quality products- those people are just harder to find. You want to train using martial arts videos and you can get great results if you find the right type of videos and have a good supplier. Take advantage of free trials and shop around.
