Self Defense Women - The Basics
If you are a woman, then you need to make sure that you know some proper self defense basics. You never know when you may be attacked in some way, and it definitely pays to be ready; in fact, it may make the difference between life and death. While you don't need a lot of classes to teach you what to do if something happens and you are attacked for some reason, there are some basic things that you need to keep in mind that can help keep you safe.
Your Body Can Be a Weapon
First of all, when it comes to self defense for women, it is important that you realize that your body can be a weapon. Even if you don't have an actual weapon with you and something happens, your body can be lethal, or at least dangerous enough to hurt your attacker so you can get away. You can use your hand to rip and tear flesh, and your elbows are excellent weapons, especially when used on the ribs, the diaphragm, the groin, and even the throat. Your knees and legs are very strong, so they make great weapons as well. If you use your knee and bring it up in the groin area of the male attacker, you can do quite a bit of damage. Don't forget your teeth. They are great weapons as well, and biting will hurt your attacker, no matter where you manage to bit him. Hit the Most Vulnerable Areas
It is also important that you realize where the most vulnerable areas are where you should hit if you are attacked. Usually the attackers of women are men, so they have certain vulnerable areas that you will want to attack with all of your might. Of course one of the most vulnerable areas on a man is the groin. Avoid kicking, since you could lose your balance, but use your knee or your hands to crush his testicles, which will be sure to bring him to his knees. The eyes are also very vulnerable, and if you can get your fingers or thumb into his eyes, it is a great way to get away. Some of the other vulnerable areas include the throat and windpipe, the shins, and even the stomach.
Get Some Practice
If you are going to be able to use any of these basics effectively, you are going to need to get some practice. Have a friend or family member practice with you and have them grab you so you can practice these moves. Just make sure you don't use full force so you don't hurt the person you are practicing with. However, just a bit of practice can help you get more comfortable with these moves so you will be ready in a bad situation.
