Martial Arts DVDsIn the 1980's video stores carried a limited selection of martial arts dvds and materials for those who wanted to train in martial arts. Some companies advertised in the back of martial arts magazines, but there was no way to know if the videos were any good until after you made your purchase, but now with the internet you can find what you want and get reviews easier then ever. DVDs of practically everything were being sold as old films were updated for the new medium. The 21st century is a time where nothing seems off limits and people can learn anything if they have time and a computer. You can train in a martial arts style solo until you're ready to train with other students or supplement the training you already have. There are martial arts DVDs also covering every culture's take on martial arts. For Greeks and Romans it was wrestling for the Filipinos weapons were the martial art of choice so they practice Eskrima and in Japan the martial art of choice for the samurai was Jujutsu. Learning about other cultures martial arts will improve your knowledge while giving you ideas about how to fight better. A person could spend a life time mastering NeWaza Judo alone, but it might be what a boxer needs to gain the edge in a fight outside of the ring. Moves like armbars, throws, and submissions are all part of Judo and Jujutsu, but may be unknown to someone practicing another martial art until they do research. There are other instructional martial arts videos that will walk you through the simplest to the most challenging of moves. As mentioned earlier you may have options presented to you that you never thought existed. You can continue learning about the martial arts outside of the dojo and if your schedule is a problem martial arts DVDs let you train whenever you want. If work, family, or other obligations are keeping you from training you can still train with the guidance of an instructor if you have DVDs to watch and take notes from. You can review your training material and be better prepared for promotions, and evaluate a system before you begin your training.
